From IPL 2023, even the no balls and wides given by on-field umpires will come under the ambit of DRS. That means the captains can even review a no-ball and wide decision given by the on-field umpire.
BCCI has announced another big rule change in IPL. The teams will now can finalise their playing 11s after the toss. This rule change allows the two teams to field the best team as per the result of the toss.
Teams will be allowed to name 5 substitutes while naming their playing 11 after the toss is done. Out of these 5, only 1 can come in as an Impact player. This rule is not a compulsion on the teams. Once the player has been replaced by the Impact player, he cannot return in the game even as a substitute fielder.
The last time the IPL took place all across India was way back in 2019. That was in pre-coronavirus days. The 2020, 2021 and 2022 editions happened partially in India. 2022 was the first time the tournament was played completely in India but was limited to just 3 cities - Pune, Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
All ten teams get to play 7 games each at their home ground. That means Chennai Super Kings will be back playing at MA Chidambaram stadium and RCB at the iconic M Chinnaswamy stadium.
