Each day of Navratri is associated with an incarnation of Goddess Durga

Day 1 – Mata Shailputri is worshipped, she is also known as Hemavati and Parvati. It is said that after she set herself on fire, God Sati was born to King Himalaya as Shailputri.

Day 2 – It is dedicated to Mata Brahmacharini, goddess of Penance. She is blessed to be unmarried form of mata parvati when she did tapa for thousands of years to get Lord Shiva as her husband.

Day 3 – Mata Chandraghanta is worshipped. After getting married to Lord Shiva Maa Durga started decking up in the half Chandra. She rides in tiger or lion as her vehicle which represent bravery and courage. She has a third eye in the middle of her forehead.

Day 4 – Goddess Kushmanda is the fourth avatar of Maa Durga. The name is formed with 3 words : Ku-ushma-anda. These 3 words stand for Little-Warmth-Egg. She refers to the creator of Universe, she is also call as Adiswarup & Adishakti.

Day 5 – God Skandamata is worshiped on the 5thday of Navratri. Worshipping her attracts fortune and luck to the devotes. She is belived to be the God of love and motherhood. She rides in lion and carries lotus, flower bell, baby kartikeya in one hand and Abhaya Mudra to bless her devotes.

Day 6 – God Katyayani symbolize the sixth form of Maa Durga, she is also known as Mahishasurmardini. Worshiping her is considerd as resolving marital issues, she was born as the daughter of Sage katyayana. She rides a lion and having four hands. It is also said that Brihaspati is governed by Maa Katyayani.

Day 7 – Mata Kaalratri is worshiped on 7thday of Navratri. She refers to time-death-night-darkness. Her Complexion is dark as night and carries a scimitar and a thunder bolt in one her hands. She is also know as Shubhamrasi as she always brings auspicious results to her devotes.

Day 8 – Maa Gouri and kanya Pujan is worshiped on 8thday of Navratri. Maa Gouri is the reason for Durga festival. Maa Gouri shower blessings in the form of peace, goodness and prosperity in ones life. She carries Trishul and Damno in one hand and Varda Mudra and Abhay Mudra in other hand.

Day 9 – This day is dedicated to Maa Siddhidatri. She refers to supernatural-awarder. She fulfils all devine aspirations, she is the giver of perfection. Maa Siddhidatri helped Lord Bramha with the creation of the unvirse and also bestowed perfection upon Lord Shiva.
